We sourced four Bordeaux varietals from three Napa Valley sub-appellations to craft this well-rounded and complex red wine blend. We started with a base of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot added depth and concentration.
Once harvested, the fruit was carefully sorted, de-stemmed and gently crushed. A 12- to 15-day maceration period, complete with seed removal and délestage, helped to coax out the aromatic characters and flavors of the wine and create full, round tannins. After fermentation, the wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels, 50% new, for 22 months.
The Napa Cellars 2018 is a sophisticated wine that opens with aromas of black currant, cocoa powder and caramelized brown sugar. On the palate, the wine is lush, with flavors of berries, strawberry jam and currant mingled with notes of vanilla, cloves and toffee, well-rounded fine-grain tannins and excellent length of the finish.
